The Flatwhite Formula: Two Founders, One Vision

Some businesses start with a plan, and others start with a connection you just don’t want to let go of.

Sandra (Communications’ lover ) and Andrea (Design freak) first crossed paths in 2017. What started as collaboration quickly became something more instinctive: a shared way of thinking, creating and seeing brands.

Today, their studio works with companies around the world, crafting work that feels intentional, human and real.

In Conversation: Sandra & Andrea

Their intern, Avery Brickman, sat down with them to talk about their journey, lives as co-founders (and moms), and what truly drives them.

Where are you from originally and when did you move to Spain?

Sandra: I’m originally from the south of France. I moved to Spain after several years of traveling and living in different places across Europe. Barcelona felt like the right place to settle—creative, open and full of energy.

Andrea: I’m from Venezuela and moved to Spain in 2014, with three suitcases and a clear intention to build a new chapter here.

How you meet and found Flatwhite?

Sandra: We met in 2017 while working at the same company. Andrea was leading design and I was in communications.

Andrea: We naturally started collaborating more and more. At some point, it just made sense to build something together.

What inspired you to start your own business with each other?

Sandra: For me, it was about continuing a collaboration that just worked and take the opportunity to launch our own project together.

Andrea: Freedom. The freedom to choose the projects, manage our time and build something that truly reflects what we enjoy doing.

How do you balance being moms and cofounders? Any lessons learned?

Sandra: It’s a constant balance, and it changes all the time. Flexibility is key—both in work and in mindset.

Andrea: It’s not always easy. Sometimes it means working late at night after spending the day with my daughters. But family always comes first. That’s non-negotiable.

What are your passions outside of work?

Sandra: Yoga, running, surfing, spending time with my kids… and comedy theatre. And of course, specialty coffee and chocolate.

Andrea: I love drawing, painting and experimenting with healthy recipes, especially desserts.

What’s the story behind the company name?

Sandra: A flat white has two shots of espresso, one for each of us...

Andrea: ...and the milk foam represents the ideas and the clients. It’s the layer that connects everything and brings it together.

What’s one core value or philosophy you want the company to reflect?

Sandra: Openness. Being able to adapt, collaborate and stay curious.

Andrea: Intention. Everything we do should have a purpose and feel aligned.

Do you have a favorite work memory or proud moment?

Sandra: Honestly, it’s not one big moment. It’s the small ones that repeat like clients trusting us and projects coming to life.

Andrea: When a client tells us that the work truly represents them—that’s the best feeling.

Any other things that make you, you?

Sandra: Traveling shaped a big part of who I am. It taught me to stay open and adaptable. Also… I’ll never say no to a good coffee (Peruvian if possible) and chocolate.

Andrea: Moving countries taught me resilience. And I’d say creativity doesn’t stop at work, it’s part of everything I do, even in the kitchen.

More Than Just Coffee

Two founders. Two perspectives. One shared instinct to keep creating. A perfect flatwhite.
